The honduran national flag was adopted on January 18, 1949. The national flag is rectangular and has a ratio of 2:1 in length to width. Flag from top to bottom by blue, white, blue three parallel equal rectangular composition. The white rectangle has five blue stars in the middle. The colors come from the original federal flag of Central America. The wide blue bars above and below represent the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean sea, respectively; White symbolizes the pursuit of peace; The five pentacle stars were added in 1866 to express the desire of the five countries that make up the federation of Central America to unite again.
